La Semaine de la Francophonie - March

International Francophonie Day (Journée internationale de la francophonie) is observed to celebrate the French language and Francophone culture. There are over 274 million French speakers on Earth.

The date celebrates the signing of the Niamey Convention in Niger on 20 March 1970. The convention established the Agence de Coopération Culturelle et Technique, the precursor to the International Organization of La Francophonie.

French National Week - November

Organized by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), National French Week is an annual celebration of French language and francophone cultures. AATF organizations, Alliance française branches, and French departments across the country will join in promoting French and everything that goes along with it with assorted activities and events.

The purpose of National French Week is to increase our community's understanding and appreciation of the francophone world by finding interesting and entertaining ways of looking at how French touches our lives as well as learning about the dozens of countries and millions of people who speak this beautiful language.

Festival des Cultures

The 2024 edition of the French Cultures Festival will take place from March 20th to April 20th. If you are based in Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas, and are planning on organizing an event related to French language and/or cultures, you can make it part of the FCF!
 
How can your event be part of the 2024 French Cultures Festival?
REQUIREMENTS:

•   Your event must take place between March 20th and April 20th, 2024

•   The event has to take place in Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas. If the event is online, it has to be organized by an entity in one of these three states. 

•   It should be open to the public (with or without RSVP)

•   Preferably free (but not necessarily)

•   It can be in-person, online or hybrid  

•   It should fit in one of the listed categories:
          - visual art
          - performing art
          - music
          - cinema
          - literature
          - conference & lecture
          - education & French language
          - gastronomy from the Francophone world

•   The French Cultures Festival must be listed as a partner of the event and the FCF logo must be displayed on communication materials.
The mention: "This event is co-organized by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the Consulate General of France in Houston" as well as an active link to our website must be added : www.frenchculturesfestival.com
