Dear World Languages Community,

We wish to affirm our unwavering commitment to creating and sustaining an intellectually challenging and diverse academic environment through excellent teaching, scholarship, and service for all our students, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender or gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation. We further embrace the principles of inclusivity and freedom of expression as integral to our mission as professional educators, public servants, and compassionate individuals.

We would like to remind our students that the university provides a variety of support resources for students:

The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion provides links to numerous support resources available to students according to their identification with specific student populations.

The SDI office also houses the SCOPE program, which helps provide a safe place and support to DACA students.

Texas State has a partnership with American Gateways in Austin and San Antonio, which provides information and advocacy for the Central Texas immigrant community.

Texas State’s Dean of Students Office has a crisis management team, which can offer support to students and family members in need.

If you are an international student in need of support, contact Texas State’s International Office, which will connect you with the appropriate resources.

Texas State’s Counseling Center offers a crisis line (512-245-2208), appointments, and daily walk-ins.

Career Services offers comprehensive career preparation services.

Your instructors are great resources, as well. Finally, the chair and office staff of World Languages, in Centennial 214, welcome all students who wish to talk about any matters of concern.
