May 5, 2019

Congratulations to Megan L. Mall who was inducted into the French National Honor Society at last night's French Club “Repas,” hosted by Dr. Forrest. We also wish graduating French Club president, Jonathan Koenig, good fortune in his future endeavors! Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society, Epsilon Tau Chapter, recognizes outstanding scholarship in the French language and Francophone literatures, strives to increase the knowledge of and appreciation for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and encourages French and francophone cultural activities in the United States. The French Club (Le Cercle Français) is a vibrant group of students that works hard to connect and enlighten students interested in the language and culture of France and Francophone countries and to celebrate and promote French culture at our University.

Congratulations to recent graduate in French, Ms. Gaby O'Connor, who has been accepted into the University of Texas at Austin's Iberian and Latin American Languages and Culture graduate program. She will pursue a PhD in Linguistics.

The Acting French class of Fall 2018 presented a greatly abridged and exuberantly performed version of Alfred Jarry’s Ubu roi. Ubu, le fou also featured light musical entertainment in the finale.

Modern Languages faculty and French Honor Society Advisor Dr. Di Mauro-Jackson congratulate French major, Ms. Marisa Luna, who was inducted into the National French Honor Society Pi Delta Phi on December 1, 2018 in recognition of her outstanding scholarship in French language and Francophone literature. The ceremony took place during the French Club's "Repas." Among the attendees were Dr. Jennifer Forrest, Dr. Carole Martin, and Dr. Valérie Masson as well as all the French Club officers and members. Merci à tous!

Students from Dr. Maria-Luisa Gómez's French 1420 classes recited a poem by French poet Jacques Prévert at the Festival de Poesía - Poetry Festival.

The French Faculty congratulate recent graduate Nicolas Trevino who was accepted into the TAPIF program. He will be a language assistant through the Académie de Poitiers, assisting instructors from October 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019 at the Lycée Marguerite de Valois and at the Collège René Cassin in the towns of Angoulême and Gond-Pontouvre, respectively.

Congratulations to recent graduate Carissa Harris, who was accepted into the TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France) program. She will be going to the island of Martinique for the academic year 2018-2019.
