Poet in residence: Susana Villanueva Eguia Lis

Dr. Susana Villanueva Eguia Lis, senior lecturer, is recognized as one of the newest Latino women poets in the Texas-Mexico borderlands after recently publishing her original poetry in two different collections. Her poems “Hablando” & “Nahual” (written in Spanish) were included in the book Texas, La Experiencia Bilingue published by UNAM (Universidad Autónoma de México) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UNAM campus in San Antonio, Texas.  Additionally, translations of her poems “Ars poetica” & “Impuesto inmigante” were included in the 2020 Latino Book Review Magazine as well.  Dr. Villanueva Eguia Lis has previously been invited as a featured poet to read her original work in Austin & San Antonio as well as internationally in Mexico and Panama.
